Joe the Plumber
McCain screwed this one up. Turns out Joe the Plumber isn't a plumber. It also turns out that, contrary to McCain's claims that Joe the Plumber would have his taxes raised under Obama's plan, Joe's taxes would in fact decrease under Obama since he makes less than $250k a year.
McCain discovers plumber no ordinary Joe.
This is the best piece I have seen on the debates. Thanks Letterman:

so who is your favorite candidate?
Ah yes... typical liberal spin. 1st, he is a plumber, just not a liscenced one. 2nd, what does it matter if he owes back taxes? 3rd, "Joe" was asking about buying the business, at which point it will raise his taxes, assuming it's a successful one.
Not lashing out at you Eric... I'm just fed up with all of the ignorance of America. Obama is probably one of the most PROVEN dishonest candidates in the history of this country, he has no intergrity, he will create a welfare state, tank this economy, and all because people hate Bush. It's just stupid!
you said it Brian!
All,
Rest assured this is a light hearted post. I'm not trying to say here that McCain would be a bad president just because of some issues with the Joe case study. It's just a bit ironic that, as much attention as Joe received in the debate, he didn't really quite fit the mold for the issues they were discussing.
