Holy God

This weekend was a unique experience. We took an octet comprised of singers from a few area churches to Tulsa, OK in order to help record a CD for Keith Lancaster’s latest Praise & Worship project, Holy God. This CD is the third in the series and the A Cappella folks decided to go with older hymns as opposed to the usual contemporary tunes. While my preference leans towards more contemporary stuff, hymns that are tried and true surely are a blessing:

Drop thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace. Amen.

What a prayer!

This was our schedule:
Left Meadowbrook @ 6:30 am on Friday
Arrived in Tulsa @ 4:30 pm
Recorded 6pm – 10pm
Recorded 9am – 1pm on Saturday
Left Tulsa @ 2pm
Arrived at Meadowbrook @ 1130 pm?? (I’m typing from the van)
…lost an hour Sat night…up early for church on Sun morn.

It was a whirlwind of a trip, but filled with much blessing and fellowship!

Here are some pics:
We took an octet. Everyone has a foot represented here:

Becca, Laura (or maybe Laura, and then Becca), Lee, Sam, Daun, Glynn, and Dixie

We had a bit of snow along the way. We also had quite a bit of fun at the expense of the GPS lady we had on board.

My hottie wife:

By the time we headed home, we were exhausted. Daun catches a nap in the van:

Check out Keith's pics as well.

I'm more of a fan of the "traditional" hymns . . .

I like the traditional hymns too - but I think I like the style of contemporary stuff better. As far as theological strength, I think there are equal percentages of good/bad songs from both "traditional" and "contemporary" hymns. Lots of "traditional" hymns have shaped our theology for the worse.
