This may be a shock to some of you...

Ok, Tracy shamed me into posting again. I knew I was neglecting the blog, but I didn't realize it had been over a month. I'll try and be more regular about posting.

I do have some big news to share: I've accepted a job offer in Jackson, MS. I will be the Associate Minister at the Meadowbrook Church of Christ in Jackson. My primary responsibilities will be in leading the worship ministry, but I will also develop the small group program and implement a ministry for the young marrieds in the congregation. Dixie and I are very excited about this opportunity to serve the Lord and the people at Meadowbrook. We had kind of planned to stay in San Antonio for the long term, but it is clear to us that God wants to use us in Jackson for the time being.

The start date is March 1st, so we are looking at moving sometime in mid to late February. It is somewhat bittersweet for us because although we are eager to dig in to the work at Meadowbrook, we are sad to leave behind Dixie's parents, Sam and Carol, and our Northside church family.

This really is a direct answer to prayer. I have been praying that the Lord use me in this kind of capacity and the people at Meadowbrook seem so loving and I believe this will be a great situation for my family. I can truly see God working in this time in our lives. Having said that, I still ask that you pray for us as we have to pack up and move again.

See, I just knew there was something to blog about and that was something BIG! Although I will be so sad to see ya'll go, this is definetly your calling! Sooo excited for you and your precious family. We will miss you here so much, but Meadowbrook church will be richly blessed with you and your family. I will miss Isaac and Dixie's little "kissing hand" routine, miss seeing Ethan and his thumb sucking and Jaylie growing up. *sigh* Bitter sweet is the emotion I feel, but God is so good and this is a cool plan he seems to have planned out for you!

I hope this turns out wonderfully for you and your sweet family. We will miss you here but know our loss is Meadowbrooks gain. We will try to help Carole and Sam get thru this, boy it is gonna be rough on them. God Bless!

YEAAA!!!

I'm pumped for you, Eric! Way to go my brother! Isn't Tom the worship leader there? Come see in Nashville sometime. You need to help me straighten out your brother-in-law. He's into all kinds of trouble these days.

Peace to you and blessings in your new job!

Thanks for your encouragement guys. I definitely appreciate it.

Brandon - Thanks man, I am really excited about it too! I'm not sure who Tom is. They've been without a worship minister for about 15 months now. I am thrilled to let the Lord use me in this way. As for straightening out Brad, you're on your own. He's always ornery - it's the Alabama in him.

Congratulations, Eric. I know God will be with you.

And I take offense to the Alabama comment. No wait, I don't care, I'm not from here.

And there's not much helping Brad, regardless :)

Congrats and best wishes to you. What a great opportunity...

And thanks for the Dumb and Dumber comment on my blog -- I laughed out loud for far too long.

As far as Alabama comments go, I've been taught to always be thankful for Mississippi...
